Termites, anyone? The students have been working on a month-long project of understanding insects. One piece of the process was learning about the insects’ habitats. In researching termites they discovered termites build large towers and have the queen live at the top. With their families, they made smaller scale termite tunnels at home and brought them into class. As a class, we made two larger termite tunnels. In the process they learned to work as a team, design on scaled paper, respect everyone’s contribution, and create the tower from a set criteria. The pictures below show the process of design.
